Slow Cooker BBQ Pork Ribs (Paleo, AIP, Whole30)

Jump to Recipe

Rain or shine, BBQ always sounds like a good idea. This recipe is a set and forget type. You can either put the pork ribs in the slow cooker or Instant Pot overnight and wake up to an amazing smelling kitchen or put your slow cooker to work while you’re away for the day.

You can make this as easy or elaborate as you would like. I like to put a dry rub on the ribs to give them an extra flavor boost. If you want to really make this extra special, I recommend broiling these once down to get them crispy and caramelized.

These are also great if you’re hosting a party or a big dinner. They don’t require a lot of time to make and can be served as an appetizer of finger food.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

This goes so well with my AIP Bacon Collard Greens. If you want something more refreshing I’d suggest some coleslaw or a simple green salad.

HEALTH BENEFITS

When possible try to buy pasture raised pork. When animals are raised on farms where they can freely roam around and adopt a natural lifestyle with access to natural forage and plenty of sunshine, their meat and fat has more nutrients than conventionally raised meat. It is richer in micronutrients, particularly fat-soluble vitamins E and D, as well as minerals like selenium. They are also fed antibiotic-free and ractopamine free feed.

Pasture-Raised Pork is better for the land. They’re waste no longer damages the environment but is recycled in the land.

Better for public health. Since they are not given antibiotics they’re less likely to carry drug-resistant bacteria.

PARENT HACK

This dish is kid pleaser! It’s so fun to eat with their fingers! This is also great for busy parents since it requires no hands on time. You can enjoy your day and just let the ribs to all of the work.

PRO TIP

Once the ribs are cooked you’ll have an amazing sauce at the bottom of you Instant Pot. Pull out the ribs and turn you Instant Pot on the sautee function. Add 1 tablespoon of tapicoa starch to 3 tablespoons of water and stir. Pour that into your Instant Pot and cook down the sauce for about 5 min on high. Now you have an awesome homemade BBQ sauce to pour on your ribs!
